Biography:
Mr. Yuanzhe Chen is the Executive Director of the China Tiangong Institute of Green Development and formerly served as Secretary-General of the Chinese Institute of Green Carbon and General Manager of a well-known carbon management company. With extensive experience in carbon trading, he specializes in global carbon asset investment management, as well as the design and implementation of trading strategies.
As one of the founders of the Green Verified Emission Removal (GVER) standard—the first independent carbon crediting mechanism in China with a global orientation—he led the establishment of China’s first registry for the independent carbon crediting mechanism. Mr. Chen is also among the earliest experts in China to conduct research on biodiversity credits and co-founded the Nature Credit Standard (NCS), an internationally pioneering biodiversity credit mechanism.
He led the creation of China’s first carbon credit rating system, which has been successfully applied in carbon asset allocation and trading decision-making by Central State-Owned Enterprises and investment funds. Mr. Chen is the author of Global Voluntary Carbon Market, the first monograph in China focusing on voluntary carbon market research, supported by the State Publishing Fund of China.
