Research Areas

Forest Carbon and Nature-based Solutions

We study forest carbon sinks, forest management, carbon accounting, harvested wood products, biodiversity co-benefits, ecosystem resilience, and the role of forests in nature-based climate solutions.

Bamboo and Climate Change

We explore bamboo as a climate and sustainability solution, including bamboo forest carbon sequestration, bamboo products, life-cycle assessment, material substitution, rural livelihoods, and bamboo-based carbon projects.

Carbon Markets and Offset Governance

We examine carbon market mechanisms, forest and bamboo carbon offsets, additionality, permanence, reversal risk, monitoring and verification, benefit sharing, and environmental integrity.

Article 6 and Climate Policy

We analyze international climate governance, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, climate finance, national climate strategies, and the role of forest- and bamboo-based solutions in global climate cooperation.

Global South Partnerships and Capacity Building

We support international collaboration, youth engagement, scientific exchange, and capacity building on forest carbon, bamboo resources, nature-based solutions, and sustainable development.

Current Focus

The Lab’s current work emphasizes high-integrity forest and bamboo climate solutions, bamboo’s role in national climate action, carbon market integrity, Article 6 implementation, and international cooperation for nature-based solutions.

Selected publications, projects, and engagement activities are organized under each research area in the subpages.

Collaboration

We welcome collaboration with universities, research institutions, international organizations, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, carbon market actors, and early-career researchers working on forest carbon, bamboo, carbon markets, nature-based solutions, and climate policy.
